My vet is concerned about bird flu: what steps does Darwin’s take to mitigate this risk?Updated 3 hours ago

We understand that your pet's nutrition is a top priority, and it is ours as well. Please be assured that we take your concerns seriously and are actively monitoring the market and the availability of the ingredients we procure. As you may know, this virus is migratory, with symptoms developing rapidly and often leading to fatal outcomes for affected flocks.

Our suppliers are fully aware of the potential risks and are continuously testing to ensure that any flocks showing signs of illness whether related to this virus or others are excluded from the supply chain. Our poultry is USDA-inspected, meaning it undergoes strict safety protocols before being allowed into the food supply. In addition, we conduct our own internal audits, which include farm visits, meetings with senior-level representatives, and reviews of all documentation to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.
Our meals are also treated with an organic Peracetic Acid solution, for pathogens, including H5N1, before production.

For additional precautions, pet parents can gently cook the meals. Our recommended method would be to lightly sauté the portion for 2- 3 minutes per side. We are confident in the safety of our meals because of the quality of our sourcing and our rigorous safety standards.

We also offer the following proteins to avoid poultry if you are still concerned:

Dogs: Beef and Lamb proteins

Cats: Beef and Rabbit proteins
